I was born and raised on the coast of North Carolina, and went to high school in Douglasville, Georgia. After graduating with a B.S. in Environmental Geoscience at Valdosta State University, I earned an M.A. in Political Science at the University of Memphis. At the University of Kansas, I am engaged in research on nationalism and civil society. focusing on cultural, political, and economic aspects and the tension between state-led natural resource extraction and indigenous rights.
